Total plasmalogens are represented as the sum of the percentage of the C16:0 DMA, C18:0 DMA, and C18:1 DMA derivatives of the chemical moieties present in the sn-1 position of plasmalogens relative to total fatty acids. The species (Hsa: human; Ptr: chimpanzee (N = 46); Ppa: bonobo (N = 4); Ggo: gorilla (N = 7); Ppy: orangutan (N = 3), human diet (V: vegan diet (N = 16), WD: western diet (N = 120) is provided on the X-axis.
