Enhanced resting respiration in spleen mononuclear cells from HTG mice is due to the mitochondrial ATP-sensitive K+channel (mitoK ATP ). HTG and WT cells (1.5 × 107 cells.ml-1) were added to RPMI 1640 medium containing 25 mM HEPES pH 7.4, 1% FBS, 1 μg/ml oligomycin and 10 μM DPI, in the absence (control) or presence of 1 mM 5-hydroxidecanoate (5HD) or 10 μM glibenclamide (GLYB) at 37°C. The results are expressed as means ± SEM, n = 6. *P < 0.01 vs WT; #P < 0.05 vs. HTG under control conditions.
