3H-sulfatide uptake in the gastrointestinal tract. The autoradiography plate is showing the uptake of 3H-sulfatide (brain derived) in the gastrointestinal tract isolated from BALB/c mice 1–2 hours after oral sulfatide administration. Lipid isolation, thin-layer chromatography and autoradiography are described under "Methods". Aliquots of the saponified "sulfatide fractions", corresponding to 2 500–3 500 dpm, were applied to the plate (one representative plate is shown). Lane 1, 3H-sulfatide; 3H-sulfatide present in, lane 2, stomach; lane 3, duodenum/jejunum; lane 4, ileum; lane 5, terminal ileum and lane 6 faeces.
