Time course of serum depletion-induced calcification. Calcification was expressed as μmol of Ca and P deposited per mg of cell proteins. Confluent cells were incubated in DMEM containing 0.07 % rabbit serum for various time intervals. Each set of three replicate experiments contained 4 dishes to include all time intervals. Data at each time point represent Mean ± SD. For Ca and P assay, duplicate determinations were run to obtain the average for statistical analysis. The initial Ca × P ion product in culture media was 9.37 mM2.
