Palmitate-induced cell death is not rescued by the down-regulation of XBP-1 or CCTα in RAW 264.7 cells. Cells were pre-treated with or without 4 mM 4-PBA or 40 μM TUDCA for 1 h and followed by treatment with 400 μM palmitate for 24 h (a). Cells were transfected with control, XBP-1 or CCTα siRNAs. After 48 h transfection, the transfected cells were treated with 400 μM palmitate for 24 h (b). Cell viability was assessed by an MTT assay. *P < 0.01 versus control cells
