Agarose gel electrophoresis for the rs5888 polymorphism of scavenger receptor class B type 1 (SCARB1) gene. The 218-bp PCR product of SCARB1 rs5888 (C > T) was digested by Hin1I (BsaHI) restriction enzyme. The C allele codes for the presence of the Hin1I site and the T allele codes its absence. The wild-type CC variant produced two fragments with 187 bp and 31 bp while heterozygote CT produced 3 fragments of 218 bp, 187 bp, and 31 bp. The mutated homozygous variant TT produced one fragment of 218 bp. The 31 bp fragment was not visible in the gel due to its fast migration speed.
