TMAO increased serum lipid levels. Serum TG (a), TC (b), LDL-c (c), HDL-c (d) were measured in apoE−/− mice (n = 8). Plasma lipoproteins were fractionated by fast-protein liquid chromatography (FPLC). The serum (100 μL) was subjected to gel-filtration chromatography using Superdex 200 10/300 GL. Fractions (0.20 mL) were collected, and CHOL (e) and TG (f) concentrations were measured in the even-numbered fractions. TG, triglyceride; TC, total cholesterol; LDL-c, low-density lipoprotein; HDL-c, high-density lipoprotein; VLDL, very low-density lipoprotein; CHOL, cholesterol.
