Role of hepatic NPC1L1 protein degradation in lithogenic diet-fed mice. The hepatic NPC1L1 protein located in plasma membrane can transport the cholesterol into hepatocytes from bile. When fed with LD, the cholic acid activated FGF15-FGFR4 axis would induce the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of hepatic NPC1L1 in mNPC1L1hepatic-OE mice. The hepatic NPC1L1 does not affect the cholesterol reabsorption and CGD development with LD feeding
