Correlations between clinical characteristics and serum Ceramides

Abbreviations: NW: normal weight; OB: obesity; BMI: body mass index; SBP: systolic blood pressure; DBP: diastolic blood pressure; WC: waist circumference; ALT: alanine aminotransferase; AST: aspartate aminotransferase; TG: triglyceride; TC: total cholesterol; LDL-c: low-density lipoprotein cholesterol; HDL-c: high-density lipoprotein cholesterol; Lp(a): lipoprotein(a); FPG: fasting plasma glucose; SCr: serum creatinine; BUN: blood urea nitrogen; UA: uric acid

The correlation coefficient (from -1 to 1) between each index is presented with the color and size of cell (from red to blue). All the colored cells indicate P<0.005, while the blank ones indicate P≥0.05. Associations between two normally distributed variables were analyzed by Pearson correlation while the others were analyzed by Spearman correlation.
