There is a significant increase in total cholesterol (r = 0.16), LDL cholesterol (r = 0.15), non-HDL cholesterol (r = 0.16), total: HDL cholesterol ratio (r = 0.13) and triglycerides (r = 0.07) with age (p < 0.001 for all). HDL cholesterol decreases slightly with age (r = -0.05, p = 0.02). Trends in men and women are almost similar and not reported separately.Back to article page
