  1. Psammomys obesus were fed with control or PS-HOSO as described in the method section and were monitored for blood glucose levels. Following 4.5 weeks of experimental diet feeding, half of each animal group was deprived of food for 16 h and then all animals were tested for blood glucose and insulin levels. Statistical significance between endpoint values of control and PS-HOSO treatments were calculated for all of phase C gerbils (total), and for fasting and non-fasting phase C gerbils.
