Effects of glucosamine on glucose, insulin, lipids and lipoproteins in rats. Serum glucose was measured by the glucose oxidase method. Insulin was measured by radioimmunoassay (Panel a). Total cholesterol, triglycerides (Panel b) and HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and lipoprotein a (Panel c) were measured by standard clinical chemistry methods.
