Sodium butyrate stimulates ROS formation in breast cancer cells. MCF-7, MDA-MB-468 and MCF-10A cells were treated with sodium butyrate (1, 5, 10 mM) for 48 h and subjected to ROS measurement as described in material and methods. A significant dose-dependent increase in the level of intracellular ROS was observed in both MCF-7 and MDA-MB-468 which remained unchanged in MCF-10A. Data represent Mean ± SD of three separate experiments. Statistical differences between different groups were analyzed by ANOVA (* = P < 0.05, ** = P < 0.01, *** = P < 0.001)
