Changes in PAF-AH activity and protein expression in response to the intervention. PAF-AH activity of diluted sera was measured at A412 over a 20 min time interval using the PAF Acetylhydrolase Assay Kit. One unit of activity is defined as 1 μmol of substrate disintegrated per minute (a). Participant sera (b and d) and isolated HDL (c and e) were run on reducing 12.5% SDS-PAGE gels and transferred to nitrocellulose membrane. Ponceau S staining was used to confirm equal loading. Blots were probed with rabbit anti-PAF-AH antibody. Results are representative of randomized experiments (b) and (c).
