Expression levels of genes coding for enzymes of the lipogenesis and cholesterol synthesis pathway in breast cancer cells. MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 cells were treated for 24 h with 4-cholesten-3-one at 50 μM. Total RNA was isolated and the mRNA expression of ACC1, FASN, SCD1 and HMGCR was examined by RT-qPCR. The mRNA expression was normalized to 18S rRNA and the results are expressed relative to the control set at 1. The data represent the mean ± the standard deviation. *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001 as compared with control
