Expression of inflammation-associated genes in the brain and liver was differentially affected by premixing LPS with HDL and LDL. Adult male C57BL/6 mice received an intraperitoneal injection of either saline (n = 10), LPS (0.5 mg/kg, n = 11) or LPS mixed with lipoprotein immediately prior to administration (HDL, n = 6, 20 mg/kg; LDL, n = 5, 20 mg/kg). Pro-inflammatory gene expression in the brain (A) and liver (B) was determined by qPCR. Relative expression of IL-1β (i), TNF (ii), CXCL1 (iii) and CCL2 (iv) was evaluated.
